Website for new Member of Parliament

Jonathan Ashworth MP was elected as Member of Parliament for Leicester South in May 2011 following the resignation of Sir Peter Soulsby, now Mayor of Leicester. Previous to his election to Parliament, Jon worked in the Treasury and 10 Downing Street for Gordon Brown. He most recently worked for Ed Miliband.

Newton-Smith Associates had created and managed Sir Peter's website for many years, and after the election the company was invited to submit proposals for a new website for Jon Ashworth.

The specification given by the MP was to create a large format website with plenty of 'white space' and having some synergy to the Labour Party so far as predominant colours were concerned.

The prime aim of the website would be to keep people living in the Leicester South constituency up-to-date with events that affect the area. With that in mind, particular attention was given to creating a vibrant News page, plus a Parliamentary page, so that current events could be entered. There was also a need to ensure the website went live in the shortest possible time.

The website was created on schedule and is now live at
www.jonashworth.org .
